Well folks, The wait is almost over!
After releasing a brief teaser last week, The Foo Fighters
have officially announced the release of their HUGELY anticipated 8th
studio album. The album, titled Sonic
Highways is due to release worldwide on the 10th of
November!
Though not a soundtrack album by any stretch, Sonic
Highways shares its title with the Dave Grohl-directed eight-episode HBO
series described by Grohl as a love letter to the history of American music. For
the album and series, Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett and Pat
Smear wrote and recorded one song in each of these eight cities, delving into
the local musical currents: how each region shaped these musicians in their
formative years, and in turn the impact those people had on the cultural fabric
of their hometowns.

A ‘Must Listen’ for all Shihad Fans
Few Kiwi bands have had the staying power of homegrown legends Shihad. I still
fondly remember my first time seeing John Toogood and the band play together
over 10 years ago and being absolutely blown away. My love for the band started
that day and I can honestly say, they've been a staple in my music listening
ever since.
As you can probably imagine my excitement levels got buzzing with the
announcement of FVEY, one of the last
projects to be recorded at Auckland’s famed York St Studio and the very last
to be produced by Killing Joke front man Jaz Coleman. With the release of the
hard hitting first single “Think You're So Free” my anticipation went into
hyper-drive. It's been a long wait but FVEY is finally here!

‘Don't’.
The Emil Nava-directed video showcases a couple's interactions through
Interpretive dance. This track and many others can be found on Ed's most recent
album X which
debuted #1 on Billboard's Top 200 earlier this summer.

Kimbras' highly anticipated sophomore album, The Golden
Echo is set to release on the 15th of August!
The album is a vivid, vivacious, and ambitious arc of pop and funk that
conveys an array of questions and insights. It’s an album both of youthful
exuberance and mature introspection. It’s at once a dancing record and
thinking record, inspired by such diverse musical touchstones as
Prince, ’70s R&B, ’90s pop, and The Mars Volta, but
heralding the full arrival of a distinctive artist. It's what Kimbra Lee
Johnson has been aspiring to and working toward since her teen years in her
hometown of Hamilton.
Check out the making of The Golden
Echo below for an awesome insight into the creative process behind
the album!

After 15 years and 6 absolutely fantastic albums, punk rockers Rise Against are
back once again with The Black
Market, a hard hitting album packed to the brim with raw energy &
emotion.
Not content to sit back and say nothing, Rise Against
once again deliver 12 stirring tracks with a ferocious intensity; guaranteed to
get your blood pumping and brain ticking. There's a point when you realise that
this album is like none of its predecessors, sure it has the same high intensity
energy, but something is definitely different this time around.
“I underestimated just what a Rise Against
song is, what the lyrics are and how they can sometimes take you to a dark
place,” explains Tim. “I used to go into songs and walk away
virtually unscathed. When I was creating this record I was having a hard time
walking away from it – I was wallowing in the sadness and the angst of the
songs.”

Brutally honest punk rockers Say Anything
return with their stunning sixth full length studio album Hebrews.
Over the last fifteen years we've felt the pain and joy of frontman Max
Blemis in every song. With a songwriting process that hides nothing and exposes
the listener to every thought & insecurity of Blemis, Hebrews is a hard
hitting album sure to provoke discussion among fans.
Hebrews,
sees the band step away from the usual trappings of a punk album by being the
first to include absolutely no guitars. Instead the album was recorder with an
extensive orchestra, as well as an all-star “cast” of guest vocalists that
includes Blink-182 and Angels & Airwaves' Tom DeLonge,
Andy Hull of Manchester Orchestra, meWithoutYou's Aaron
Weiss, Every Time I Die's Keith Buckley, the Get Up Kids'
Matt Pryor and Chris Conley of Saves the Day.
