Nevermind the snake (unless talking MGS), 2013 has to be the year
of the GAMER.
Having just returned from Los Angeles where I was invited along to attend
the annual E3 pilgrimage, I can say that I am home with a newly discovered
vigour for my gaming life. It has been some years indeed since I last recall
feeling so overwhelmed and yet utterly excited about the future of the
ever-evolving video gaming industry.
Those of you that have followed the amazing E3 coverage and the information
that has flowed on since, will understand just how epic last week really was. It
all started with the media conferences on the Monday – a day before E3
actually kicked off. The software giant Microsoft – as everyone
expected – proved that the Xbox One is indeed a hardcore gaming machine
and came out swinging with Titanfall, Ryse: Son of Rome, a new
Halo teaser and a truly next generation experience. Later in the day EA
and Ubisoft each had their turn to dazzle and wow with their respective titles,
before Sony took the stage that evening and rolled out with an unexpected
revelation of continued support for the used game market with PS4, along with an
incredible price point announcement to boot. This was epic stuff in the life and
times of the modern gamer!

As many of you will know already we have been running a competition that gave
